How much is Robux worth in real money?
There isn't one answer, because 'how much is Robux worth' is really two different questions: what it costs you to buy Robux, and what you get when you cash it out. Those two numbers are deliberately far apart — and understanding the gap is the whole point.
Two different questions
When you buy Robux to spend in-game, you pay roughly a penny per Robux. When you earn Robux and cash it out through Roblox's official Developer Exchange (DevEx), you get roughly a third of a penny per Robux. Roblox keeps the difference. So the 'value' of a Robux depends entirely on which direction it's going.
What Robux cost to buy
Buying Robux directly, the headline rate is about 80 Robux per £1, and it improves slightly on larger packs. A Roblox Premium subscription gives a better rate plus a monthly Robux stipend.
| Robux pack | Approx. price (GBP) |
|---|---|
| 400 R$ | £4.99 |
| 800 R$ | £9.99 |
| 1,700 R$ | £19.99 |
| 4,500 R$ | £49.99 |
| 10,000 R$ | £99.99 |
What Robux are worth when you cash out (DevEx)
DevEx is the only official way to turn earned Robux into real money. At the time of writing the rate is $0.0035 per Robux — that's $3.50 for every 1,000 Robux, or $350 per 100,000.
- Minimum cash-out: 30,000 Robux (about $105).
- Only earned Robux qualify — Robux you bought can't be cashed out.
- You must have a Roblox Premium subscription and a verified account.
- Payouts are made in US dollars, so a UK creator also takes a currency-conversion hit.
The 30% marketplace cut
Before you even reach DevEx, there's another slice taken. When you sell an item, game pass or in-experience purchase, Roblox keeps around 70% and the creator keeps roughly 30%. So a 100 Robux sale puts about 30 Robux in your balance — and it's that 30 you can later exchange at the DevEx rate.
Why buy and sell rates differ
The gap between ~1p to buy and ~0.35p to cash out isn't a glitch — it's the business model. The spread funds the platform, discourages Robux being treated as a currency to trade, and keeps the economy pointed at spending inside Roblox rather than cashing out. It's the single most important thing to understand before you count your Robux as 'money'.
Tax on a DevEx payout (UK)
Money you receive through DevEx is income. In the UK there's a £1,000 trading allowance — earn under that in a tax year and you generally don't need to declare it. Above it, you'll usually need to register for Self Assessment and report the earnings. This is general information, not tax advice; check with HMRC or an accountant if you're earning meaningfully.
FAQ
How much is 10,000 Robux in real money?
It depends on the direction. To buy 10,000 Robux costs roughly £100. To cash out 10,000 earned Robux via DevEx is about $35 (before currency conversion and tax) — and you can only cash out once you hit the 30,000 Robux minimum.
What is the DevEx rate?
At the time of writing, Roblox's Developer Exchange pays $0.0035 per Robux — $3.50 per 1,000 Robux — with a 30,000 Robux minimum cash-out and Premium plus a verified account required.
Why is buying Robux cheaper than selling them?
Roblox keeps the spread between the buy price (~1p per Robux) and the DevEx cash-out rate (~0.35p per Robux) on purpose. It funds the platform and keeps the economy focused on spending inside Roblox rather than cashing out.
