The official figure (4 GB minimum and 6 GB recommended) is for the game client, not a hosted server. A server with several players loads chunks and mods for everyone at once, so give it more than the client figure.
Which Minecraft version and loader does FTB Skies use?
FTB Skies runs on Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge, and the latest release we checked was 1.9.1 (2026-06-11). Your host needs the matching Java version for that Minecraft release.
Do modpacks need more CPU or more RAM?
Both, but modded Minecraft is single-thread bound, so a host with a high clock speed matters as much as the RAM.
